Installing Apache web server:

Apache comes as a prepackaged install on most Unix based servers including
Macintosh and Linux.  For Windows binaries visit Apache's web site and
download the current stable version.  For further help look for docuentation
on their web site.  SCSDB does not require Apache and can be run on
a properly configured Windows IIS server.

Installing MySQL and Tools:

Go to MySql's web site and doload the free MySQL Community Server for the operating
system that you wish to host the databae server.  Also download the Tools as you will need
copies of the admin tools and query analyser.  This is also a good time to download the
ODBC driver for the operating system of the workstation where you expect to run
Open Office Base for report generation and analysis.  For more check out the documentation
on their web site.

Installing Php:

Most Unix installs come with Php prepackaged.  For Windows and Macs, you can find
binaries and sources at Php's web site.  Further assistance with Php can also be found
on thier web site.

Installing ODBC:

Vist MySql's web site and get the ODBC Driver for your workstation.  Installation is fairly
simple on Windows and Mac 10.4.x and above.  I've had no success with Mac 10.3.x or
less.

Mac 10.4.x or better:  Go to finder/application/utilites and ODBC manager.  Chose
the system DNS tab.

Windows:  Go to Control Panel, Admin Tools, ODBC Manager.

From here both are the same.  Steps 1, 2 and 3.

Installing SCSDB:

Installing Open Office:

Visit OpenOffice.org and download the current stable version for your operating system.

Setting up an ODBC connect for Base:

First install and configure the ODBC conection as shown above.

Next open the Open Office Base SCSDB  database.  Edit the database properties.  Browse to the new
database pointer.
